Alastair Double Stamp

Alastair Dyer claimed the dual crowns of Tasmanian Open winner and Tas Lightning Champion in the one weekend.  This adds to his Tas Champion title won earlier in the year and sets him above the rest of the field.  He intends to contest the upcoming weekenders but is unlikely to play in the Burnie Club events as he concentrates on his year 12 studies.  Another Burnie junior player to do well was Andrew Fifield who beat both Kevin Bonham and Nigel Frame.  He also managed to go into a drawn endgame against Alastair but lost.  In a very instructive game for myself, Andrew slowly gained the upperhand against a pathetic Q-side push in his KID to overrun me totally.  Vincent Horton also had a return to chess and 3.5 points to share the U1700 rating prize.
Lindsay Atkinson tournament finishes - Phil Donnelly wins despite losing his last three games while half the field finishes in equal second on 5/9.
Robert Isted underway
Entries close tomorrow for the RI tournament which is 60'+10".  Nigel and Phil flipped for colours and Nigel as black showed a return to form.
