Last weekend in Hobart Marcus Bretag played Vladimir Smirnov (overall winner) in the last round and scored a draw against the FM! A small field contested the event with Alastair Dyer (4/6 equal 3rd), Vincent Horton (3/6) and myself (3/6) the only players from the NW.
Last week at the Burnie Club, Phil returned from an overseas holiday in Poland. He played Vincent who had the upper hand but was beaten by a tactic. Paul lost to Peter. Reg df Dylan. Carey upset David. Nigel was looking 2 pawns down and I suffered from a bit of complacency. Nigel quickly found a queen trap and the game was lost.
Next week the tournament continues and players will play either tournament games or rated games outside of the tournament.
