Things have been slow while I recover email and chess files after a HDD failure. Keep checking as I hope to have things moving along weekly. David put up the draw on the last Club Champs post see comments.
Last week
Phil and David were locked in an even struggle as we headed out the door at 9:20pm. Was the better outpost for David's Black Knight going to be enough? Did Phil have purchase on the e5 pawn?
Carey looked lost against Reg defending against back row threats but he used his queen to run wild rounding up pawns - and looked to have cleverly escaped. Cohen used his knowledge of the Slav (courtesy David's prep) to play a good opening before losing a piece to Russell.
Andrew was an exchange up against Fred, and had magnificent mating tricks which kept
allowing him to win pawns as the back row couldn't be left unguarded.
Kevin played his usual Vienna and Peter saw an opportunity for a winning combination - it looked good and that's where it ended. The calculation failed and Kevin now has 3/4 against some good opponents.
